The five steps
Plan, back up, apply, verify, recover — in record only mode. On a deployment each step runs, is verified and lands on the audit trail; every component on the demo is current, so every step reads done.
- ✓ done Plan The CHANGELOG entry, the tag and the colophon are read from the one RELEASE source and the target release is named; the admin confirms it by typing the component and the version.
- ✓ done Back up Nothing to copy beyond the previous release itself, which stays kept; the updater records which digest is available to return to.
- ✓ done Apply The stamp changes only inside a release, so the apply is the release image update of the Running image row; nothing writes a stamp on a running host.
- ✓ done Verify The colophon, the healthcheck and BUILD.json all print 1.1.0; a disagreement between them fails the step.
- ✓ done Recover Roll back to the previous release; the stamp rolls back with it, and the verify sweep runs again before recovered is shown.
